Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Brian's Brain, LLC ("Inksightful," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use Inksightful's website, waitlist, mobile app, beta features, and related services.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Inksightful, we may collect:

• Waitlist and contact information, such as your email address and any information you submit through the website.
• Account information, such as your Sign in with Apple identifier and, when Apple provides it, your email address or private relay address.
• Notebook processing content, such as scanned page images, recognized text, entries, people, topics, and processing metadata that you submit for cloud recognition or entry grouping.
• Usage and job information, such as job IDs, page counts, status, errors, usage limits, credit balances, and diagnostic metadata.
• Purchase and entitlement information, such as RevenueCat app user IDs, product identifiers, subscription or credit status, and balance information. We do not receive your full payment card details.
• Device and notification information, such as push notification tokens if you enable completion notifications.
• Technical information, such as IP address, browser or device details, logs, crash reports, and security events.

2. Notebook content and remote processing

The app stores your notebook library locally on your device. If you use AI handwriting recognition, diary grouping, or similar remote features, the app uploads selected pages or recognized text to our backend. Our backend may send that content to AI providers, including OpenAI, to perform the requested processing.

The backend is a processing service, not the long-term system of record for your notebook archive. It is designed to return job results to the app and remove uploaded job files after processing and result retrieval or job deletion. The app keeps the long-term notebook copy on your device.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

• provide scanning, recognition, search, entry grouping, and related app features;
• operate the waitlist, beta access, support, and service communications;
• authenticate users and protect accounts;
• manage subscriptions, consumable credits, usage limits, and refunds for failed processing jobs;
• send optional job-completion notifications;
• debug, secure, maintain, and improve the service;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• service providers that host, process, secure, monitor, or support Inksightful;
• AI providers used to recognize handwriting or process notebook text;
• Apple for sign-in, app distribution, payment, and notification services;
• RevenueCat for purchase, entitlement, and credit-balance management;
• Kit or similar email providers for waitlist and email updates;
• authorities, courts, or other parties when required by law or needed to protect rights, safety, and security;
• a successor organization if Inksightful is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

5. Retention

Local notebook data remains on your device unless you delete it or use device backup/sync features outside Inksightful. Remote job files and uploaded notebook content are retained only as needed to process jobs, return results, troubleshoot failures, comply with legal obligations, and maintain service integrity.

Account, purchase, usage, support, and security records may be kept longer when needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, satisfy legal requirements, prevent abuse, or maintain accurate billing and entitlement records.

6. Your choices

You can choose not to use remote recognition or entry grouping. You can delete notebook data in the app, opt out of email updates using unsubscribe links where available, disable push notifications in your device settings, and contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal information we control.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service, device, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. Children

Inksightful is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

9. International processing

We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the website, app, email, or another reasonable method. The effective date above shows when this policy was last updated.
